This lesson walks through accessing a specific student's Intervention Implementation Fidelity scores, as well as utilizing filters and Implementation Fidelity data to interpret intervention engagement.
View and Filter Implementation Fidelity
- Select the Interventions icon.
- Use the dropdowns to filter data to a specific student.
- Available filters include Year, Date Range, Interventionist, Level, Strategy, School, Grade, and Student.
- The Year filter defaults to the current academic year.
- At least one School and one Grade must be selected from the dropdowns to populate the Student dropdown.
- The Implementation Fidelity chart will update as changes are made to the search filters.
If the filters are narrowed to one selected student, the Implementation Fidelity charts will reflect the data of that singular student. If the filters are narrowed to one or more schools or grades, the Implementation Fidelity charts will take into account all included student data.
Interpreting Implementation Fidelity
The Implementation Fidelity widget displays two data visualizations: the percentage of Procedures Completed, and the percentage Participation Rate.
The percentage of procedures completed is calculated from the attendance recorded for the specific procedures linked to an intervention strategy for a student or group of students. Take a look at Customizing Academic Intervention Strategies to learn about adding procedures to intervention strategies.
When procedures are linked to a strategy, they help to outline the specific steps that students should be taking when participating in that intervention. Recording whether a student has completed each of those steps, alongside the overall attendance, helps to discern not only if the student is attending interventions, but also completing each of the intervention steps.
Participation in intervention procedures can be recorded at the same time as taking overall attendance for interventions. Take a look at Taking Attendance for Interventions Monitored by Assessments to learn more about recording participation.
Once data is recorded for intervention participation and procedures completed, the Implementation Fidelity widget can be utilized to monitor engagement, and can act as a starting point for deeper conversation. Those with the ability to see more than just their own interventions, or who have the permissions to search by interventionist, can use filters to see how effective specific groups are in completing the procedures for specific strategies each day.
Data can filtered to different academic years and date ranges, allowing for comparisons between years, and between different time frames within the year. Data may reveal that attendance and completion dip during busier times of the year, or perhaps that a student's procedure completion begins at a lower percentage, but rises as they continue to attend interventions.
Filtering by interventionist, intervention level, and/or specific intervention strategy can aid in identifying pain points for interventionists and their interventions. A specific interventionist might need extra support; Tier 2 interventions might have a high percentage of procedures completed, while the Tier 3 interventions have a lower percentage, indicating that those students need more time to complete their interventions; or an intervention strategy with a low participation rate might reveal that the intervention schedule should be moved from Friday afternoons to a different time schedule.
The school, grade, and student filters allow users to view broad trends across and between different schools and grades, down to the performance of an individual student.
Viewing Implementation Fidelity information across different groupings and levels of data helps to drive further conversation into possible barriers of student achievement, and the strategies that can be used to address those barriers.
