Student Learning Objectives, or SLOs, are developed by educators to focus on student growth. After a small group meets to determine what information is needed for an SLO, this lesson guides users through creating the SLO.
Where to Start
- Run a search via the District, Grade or Class tab.
Create an SLO from a Chart
- Next to the desired Chart, select the three-dot menu.
- Select Create SLO.
Create an SLO from a Data Wall
- Run a search from the Grade or Class tabs with the desired filters.
- Go to the Data Wall.
- Select the three-dot menu.
- Select Create SLO.
Select an Assessment
- Select the desired Assessment the SLO will be based on.
- Choose the Starting Window for the SLO.
- Choose a Performance Band Target Group.
- Select one or more students to link to the SLO.
- Select Confirm.
SLO Details
- Enter a Name for the SLO.
- Select an Assignee. By default, it is the user creating the SLO.
- Select a Reviewer. Only users with permission to approve SLOs are available to select.
- Select a Duration for the SLO. This includes a Start and End Date, Ending Year, and Ending Window.
- Select a Monitoring Date. This is when the Reviewer checks on the progress of the SLO.
- Select Next to continue.
Set Goals
Set a Goal for student growth. By default, a Baseline and Goal are determined based on the selected students. Update as needed.
Change the goal to Target Growth, which allows users to identify the number of students who will be at/above benchmark and the number of students who will be below
Select Save and Next to continue.
Add Strategies (optional)
Strategies provide the assignee(s) and reviewer of the SLO with a view on the strategies/activities that will be used to help achieve the identified goal.
- Determine if a Strategy should be added to the SLO. If so, select Add.
- Enter a Strategy, up to 1000 characters.
- Select the Assignee.
- Toggle if the Strategy should be Reoccurring.
- Select a Date, Start, and End Time.
- Select Save.
- Select Next to continue.
Add Logistics (optional)
Logistics provide the assignee(s) and reviewer of the SLO with a view on the training/professional development and the materials that will be needed to help achieve the identified goal.
- Determine if a Logistic should be added to the SLO. If so, select Add.
- Select a Type - Training or Materials.
- Enter the Logistics in the provided space.
- Enter a numerical value for the Cost.
- Select an Assignee.
- Select Save to continue.
- Select Save to save and create the SLO.
Once an SLO has been created, it is immediately accessible to any Assignees and the Reviewer.
