Live smartFORM templates allow admins or users with the required permissions to make changes to a smartFORM template and push those changes to any instances already created from that template. This article explains how to enable this feature for new forms. If a template is created as a versioned form, it will not be able to be converted to a live form.
Required Permissions: Create forms templates and Manage all form templates
Where to Start

- Navigate to smartFORMs.
- Select the Form Templates tab.
- Select District Templates.
Create New Live Template
- Select New.
- Create a Template.

- Use the Live Template slider.
- Select Create to add the new form template.
Duplicate Template to Create Live Template
- Use the 3-dot menu.
- Select Duplicate.

- Use the Live Template slider.
- Select Save to add a copy of the form as a live template.
Confirming Form is Live
Forms that are live will have a checkmark in the Live Template column.
If a Live smartFORM Template is edited after student instances of that template are created, data may be lost if fields are removed. If a smartFIELD is removed, users can add that smartFIELD back to a live template and populate the data. If it is not a smartFIELD, but a field in which data was manually entered, such as text or list fields, there is not a way to populate that field back with the previous data to the student instance if that field was removed from the template.
