This article explains how districts that have both eduCLIMBER and DnA can transfer their attendance data from their SIS to DnA, and then from DnA to eduCLIMBER. This also pertains to the process of extracting Half/Full Day data, and assesses an SIS's ability to incorporate "Daily Attendance Equivalent" information in their extraction.
How eC’s Half/Full Day is Extracted
Attendance Rate uses the column/field in the extract from DnA titled: “Daily Attendance Equivalent.” If the client is not importing in the equivalent field (a numeric value), the data for eC’s Full Day Rate calculates on the attendance flags/marks that are imported.
SIS Status
EduCLIMBER is able to extract the Days Equivalent number from some SISs. The Adjust Attendance Rate works on the Half/Full Day number districts seen in eduCLIMBER, and the Half/Full Day number comes from the Days Equivalent number on the extract. Therefore, if the Days Equivalent number can be extracted from an SIS, then the district will see the Half/Full Days number in eduCLIMBER and can utilize the Adjusted Attendance Rate feature. Below is the current progress eC has on extracting the Days Equivalent number based on SIS.
- For those systems that are ready, eC is currently extracting the Days Equivalent Number, and districts can begin utilizing Adjusted Attendance Rate immediately.
- For those systems that are in progress, eC is currently in discussion with the SIS to see if we can work together to extract that number. Districts should be able to use Adjusted Attendance Rate in the future once the extract is ready.
- For those systems that are unavailable, eC is planning to work with partnerships to see if they can help connect us with the SIS. Until this partnership is made, districts will not be able to utilize the Adjusted Attendance Rate.

Enabling Adjusted Attendance Rates (Ready)
If districts utilize an SIS where the extract is ready, Admins can Enable the Adjusted Attendance Rate option within System Configuration > District & Schools > District Information > Enable Adjusted Attendance Rate slider and then enter Rate Adjustments. Most numbers on the extracted file will be 0, 0.5, and 1. However, there may be some SISs that report 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1. Regardless of the extract, districts tend to focus on 0, 0.5, and 1. These are the numbers districts will enter within eduCLIMBER using the Adjusted Attendance Rate.
- Example: When 0-0.49 is found on the extract, show 0 in eduCLIMBER. When 0.5-1 is found on the extract, show 1 in eduCLIMBER.
Enable Console SIS Calculations
Districts using Console for their data ingestion can use Enable Console SIS Calculation for attendance calculations.
When enabled, only the records with the Period of “All” and status of “Absent” will count against the SIS Reported rate in eduCLIMBER. Records that have a period of “All” and status of “Tardy” will not count against the SIS Reported rate.
Once enabled, attendance data will update immediately in the user interface, and do not require waiting for the nightly data sync to run.
